Competition Guidelines

Last year, to expand our community outreach, we decided to host an event centered on educating high school students. By hosting a business plan competition, we hoped to introduce competitors to real-world business skills and offer an opportunity for creative problem solving, public speaking experience, and teamwork building.

Our first competition was a major success, with over thirty students and eleven teams presenting their ideas and competing for the grand prize. This year, we hope to host even more students from across the Tuscaloosa area!

The event will be held at the University of Alabama on Sunday, April 22nd, 2018. Registration for our competition is completely free, and the top three teams will be awarded cash prizes. The competition will consist of two parts:

Part 1: The Plan

Participants will propose a hypothetical business start-up using a formal business plan following the outline detailed in the attachment below. If a student has already started their own business endeavor, they are permitted to use this instead. The finalized documents must be submitted to our website by 11:59 PM on Sunday, April 15th.

Part 2: The Pitch

On the day of the competition, students will have 10 minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of judges consisting of professors, Forza employees, and professionals from the community. The event will take place in the Ferguson Center Mortar Board Room (Room 3107), from 1:00-4:00 PM. Any interested relatives or friends are invited to watch the presentations. Lunch will be provided.
